Soil texture were sampled in the young landslide in front of the station, on the other side of the San Francisco river. Soil samples were analysed in the laboratory of the University of Bayreuth.

The table is a  list of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi with their host plants. The sequences are deposited in the NCBI GenBank.

Quality assessment ECSF climate station hourly data: Version 2; Dataset supersedes ver. 1 which is left for reference. Please be aware, that aggregated values may be wrong, due to the data gaps. This is especcially critical for precipitation. Variables: Ta2m =Air Temperature at 2 m (T) PCP = Precipitation at 1 m (P) Huma_2m = relative humidity at 2m (rH) Irradiation = global radiation at 2 m (gRad), widspeed. Emitted radiation, wind direction and soil-temperatures are not yet published For each variable, a measure of uncertainty is given in the original dimension. This value can be considered as the potential deviation from real conditions. Where no parallel measurements exist, the uncertainty is given as the standard deviation of that difference. Rainfall data from the ECSF area in hourly resolution at the FN2 site located at the intersection of Camino Canal and Camino Zig-Zag. Rainfall was measured with an automatic rain gauge (Campbell ARG100, Palo Alto, USA) coupled with a HOBO H07-002-04 datalogger (Onset, Bourne, USA). Event-based recordings were aggregated to hourly data. Rain events occuring during one hour interval were aggregated to the next full hour. Data values are complete unless otherwise indicated by the data gaps below:

Data gaps during the observation period are indicated by values = NULL. Please take these data gaps into account when aggregating precipitation values.

List of sequences of uncultured Glomeromycota with their GenBank accession numbers

Measurements of gas flux (CO2, CH4, N2O) in canopy soils of NUMEX plots on four dates (Sept/Nov 2011 and Jan/April 2012). Measurements were taken in 3 of the 4 NUMEX blocks at each elevation; treatments measured included C, N, NP and P.

Gas fluxes were measured by incubating intact soil cores.
Gas samples were analyzed on a gas chromatograph with a FID and ECD.
Note that the units for CO2 are mg CO2-C m-2 h-1 (not g CO2-C).

Monthly measurement of soil temperature and soil gas fluxes (CO2, N2O) in the NUMEX plots in Bombuscaro, ECSF und Cajanuma

Monthly measurements of gas fluxes were performed using static vented chambers.
Soil temperature was taken simultaneously with gas measurements.

Ongoing data collected from the Cajanuma tower station at 2888 masl.

Raw data, initial visual control only. Use data with great care, errors might be included.

Weekly time series of precipitation data from the San Francisco area at 2000 m a.s.l. at the measuring station FN3 located at the climate station on T2. Precipitation was measured with 5 Hellmann-type pluviometers. The resulting weekly replicates of precipitation were volume-weighted and bulked to one sample per collecting interval. Electrical conductivity and pH values were measured immediately in unfiltered aliquots in the laboratory at the ECSF.

Aggregated values from 2000 are incomplete (May to December).
