Abstract:
Monthly measurements of bracken and Setaria sphacelata cover and leaf height before and after burning or mowing, respectively, on 1m2 plots. Additionally, reference plots without treatment were included in the dataset. Three vegetation types were observed at an abandoned pasture site: pure bracken stands (A), pure Setaria stands (S), and mixed stands of both (M). Burning (first burn of the experimental fire area) were applied at 2008-9-25 and mowing was realized between 2008-10-3 and 2008-10-7.<br/>

Vegetation dynamics table: The calculated vegetation heights of Setaria sphacelata and bracken consists of averaged single measurements of the largest leaf of each present grass tussock (from soil surface to leaf tip) and the standing height of each present bracken leaf, respectively.<br/>
LAI table: LAI measurements were allways taken with the 90° view cap because of the small plot size, 4 points per plot (2 from the left and 2 from the right slope paralell plot border) with 2 above and below measurements each, sensor direction was allways looking from the border into the plot. The given attributes were calculated using the FV2000 Software version 1.11 from LICOR. The 5th sensor ring was excluded before the calculations because the plots were located at steep slopes.
