This dataset contains bird monitoring data from all core plots (natural and disturbed forest sites) from two different seasons(wet and dry season)at three different altitudes (1000, 2000, 3000 masl)over two years (2014 & 2015).

Monitoring of woody species regeneration was done in 2003, 2005 and 2007 on 48 subplots of 116 m2 on pasture, fern, and shrub sites. 
Half of the subsamples were randomly selected and manually treated by cutting back all competing herbaceous species with a machete
every 4 months from 2003 to 2005. Competing species refers to dominant, exotic and aggressive species such as grasses (S.
sphacelata) in the Pasture site, and exotic fern (P. arachnoideum) in the Bracken and Shrub sites, woody native species were not removed.

We monitored frugivore diversity and plant-frugivore interactions in a tropical montane forest in Southern Ecuador across an elevational (1000, 2000, 3000 masl) and human disturbance gradient over two years (2014 & 2015)

In the uploaded data you can find the richness and abundance of  frugivore birds and fruiting plants(involved in the interaction networks. They were recorded in a 30m x 100m transect inside the core plots.

The prediction map identifies the estimated richness of Pyraloidea species in the mountain rainforest in the San Francisco Valley. The corresponding regression model explained 72% in variation of species richness. Further information about the model and sampled field data are published in Wallis et al. (2017): Remote sensing improves prediction of tropical montane species diversity but performance differs among taxa. doi: 10.1016/j.ecolind.2017.01.022

Ants data obtained by baiting with 6 used nutrients (water, salt solution, sugar solution, amino-acid solution, amino-acid-sugar solution, oil). Data were collected during the wet and the dry season 2014 on the coreplots and intermediate elevation levels (1000, 1500, 2000, 2500, 3000) on disturbed and undisturbed forest plots. The predation data were collected using an artificial caterpillar approach.
