Resumen:
The maps, based on data of the period 1999-2009, can be used by ecological projects working on various plots where no climate station data are available. The temperature maps are generated by combining a straightforward detrending technique with a Digital Elevation Model and a satellite-based land cover classification which also provides the relative forest cover per pixel. The topical aim of the study was to investigate the thermal structure of both manifestations of our ecosystem (pastures and natural vegetation) with special considerations to the ecosystem temperature regulation services by converting natural forest into pasture.

Due to technical problems the former weather station ECSF (established 1998) was shut down in 2010. At the same time a new weather station called "Climate Station ECSF established 2010" was installed 3m beside the former ECSF weather station on the same measuring plot.

The data are quality checked by a standardised method.
Climate Parameter Quality Check for site ECSF
Checking modules:
1. Does a value exist?
Quality flag is set to
"d = missing"
2. Checking of site specific threshold value.
If the value is not inbetween the thresholds the quality flag is set to "c = out of range":
Windspeed max = 25
Global Radiation max = 1400
Air temperature in 2m max = 30
Air temperature in 2m min = 5
Air humidity max = 99.9
Air humidity min = 10
3. Checking the plausibility of air temperature and air humidity within the measurement intervals by comparing the previous and current values.
If the temperature amplitude is higher then 10°C and humidity amplitude is higher than 30% the plausibility of this variation is checked by comparing to the variation of the other parameter.
The quality flag is set to "e = variation implausible".
4. Precipitation check
If precipitation is more than 25 mm then quality flag is set to "c = out of range"
If precipitation is more than 15 mm and air temperature increases more than 0.2 °C inbetween a temporal interval then quality flag is set to "e = variation impossible".
5. Relative air humidity values are corrected by a standarized method and quality flag is set to "m = manually corrected".
6. Wind direction is not quality checked and flag is set to "nqc = not quality checked"
All other values are set to "a = valid".
