Weekly time series of precipitation data from the ECSF area at the measuring station FN3 located on T2 near the ECSF meteorological station. Precipitation was measured with 5 Hellmann-type pluviometers. The resulting weekly replicates of precipitation were volume-weighted and bulked to one sample per collecting interval. Electrical conductivity and pH values were measured immediately in unfiltered aliquots in the laboratory at the ECSF.

Measurements of gas flux (CO2, CH4, N2O) in canopy soils of NUMEX plots on four dates (Sept/Nov 2011 and Jan/April 2012). Measurements were taken in 3 of the 4 NUMEX blocks at each elevation; treatments measured included C, N, NP and P.

Gas fluxes were measured by incubating intact soil cores.
Gas samples were analyzed on a gas chromatograph with a FID and ECD.
Note that the units for CO2 are mg CO2-C m-2 h-1 (not g CO2-C).

Soil texture were sampled in the young landslide in front of the station, on the other side of the San Francisco river. Soil samples were analysed in the laboratory of the University of Bayreuth.

Precipitation was measured with 5 Hellmann-type pluviometers. The resulting weekly replicates of precipitation were volume-weighted and bulked to one sample per collecting interval. Electrical conductivity and pH values were measured immediately in unfiltered aliquots in the laboratory at the ECSF.

AMF root colonization of roots extracted from the upper soil layer (5cm) at all NUMEX plots. Roots are stained with Trypan Blue, AMF root colonization is examined by the line-intersect method.

Monthly measurements of gas fluxes were performed using static vented chambers.
Soil temperature was taken simultaneously with gas measurements.

Due to technical problems the former weather station ECSF (established 1998) was shut down in 2010. At the same time a new weather station called "Climate Station ECSF established 2010" was installed 3m beside the former ECSF weather station on the same measuring plot.

The data are quality checked by a standardised method.

Quality flag is set to
"d = missing"

2. Checking of site specific threshold value.
If the value is not inbetween the thresholds the quality flag is set to "c = out of range":
Windspeed max = 25
Global Radiation max = 1400
Air temperature in 2m max = 30
Air temperature in 2m min = 5
Air humidity max = 99.9
Air humidity min = 10

3. Checking the plausibility of air temperature and air humidity within the measurement intervals by comparing the previous and current values.
If the temperature amplitude is higher then 10°C and humidity amplitude is higher than 30% the plausibility of this variation is checked by comparing to the variation of the other parameter.
The quality flag is set to "e = variation implausible".

4. Precipitation check
If precipitation is more than 25 mm then quality flag is set to "c = out of range"
If precipitation is more than 15 mm and air temperature increases more than 0.2 °C inbetween a temporal interval then quality flag is set to "e = variation impossible".

5. Relative air humidity values are corrected by a standarized method and quality flag is set to "m = manually corrected".

6. Wind direction is not quality checked and flag is set to "nqc = not quality checked"

All other values are set to "a = valid".

This dataset extends dataset ECSF Climate station best estimate Ver. 2 (id: 1415)
Basis of extension is the raw data of ECSF Thies Station. Various gaps are filled with stations nearby: ECSF Campbell Station, ECSF Pluvio, Campbell Tower Scintillometer Station, Campbell Tower ECOv station and Thies pasture station. The known drift in the Thies temperature sensor is corrected with regression methods based on the ECSF Campbell station temperature.

Caution! Humidity seems to be too high, further checks necessary.

List of sequences of uncultured Glomeromycota with their GenBank accession numbers

Weekly time series of measured concentrations of Al, Mn, Zn, Cl, PO4-P, Total P, NH4-N, NO3-N, Total N, K, Na, Mg, Ca and Total organic C in precipitation in the ECSF area at the FN3 site on T2 near the ECSF meteorological station. The weekly time series extends between May 2000 and May 2013. Precipitation was sampled with 5 Hellmann-type collectors. Replicates were collected, volume-weighted and bulked to one sample per plot. Samples were immediately filtered (4-7 µm) in the laboratory of the ECSF and stored at -20 °C until transport in frozen state to Germany or to Switzerland for concentration measurements.

This dataset contains fruit phenology data from 37 fleshy-fruited species at three different altitudes (1000, 2000, 3000 masl) over 10 months (2019 & 2020).
