Abundance of vascular epiphytes (incl. hemiepiphytes) in 10 x 10 m plots across a land-use gradient.
All samples (columns) give abundance data for vascular epiphyte assemblages in plots of 10x10 meters. PT = Handtuchfläche secondary forest (RSF), Ai = secondary forest at Arco Iris (Ai1: around Ai-building, Ai2-plots on neighbouring ridge towards W), Q2 = Quebrada 2 (RSF), Q5 = Quebrada 5 (RSF), PP = Pinus plantation above ECSF, LC = Loma Chamusqiuín (1-4: secondary forest below Loja-Zamora road, 5-8: secondary forest above Loja-Zamora road). SF = tall secondary forest at RSF, DF = tall degraded forest at RSF; MF = mature (undisturbed) forest at RSF.

Orthomosaic containing Georeferenced RGB Imagery from ECSF forest aquired with a low flying UAV.

Weekly time series of throughfall data from the ECSF area in the microcatchment Q2 (transects Q2.1, Q2.2 and Q2.3). Throughfall was measured weekly with 20 Hellmann-type pluviometers at each transect. The weekly replicates were volume-weighted and bulked to one sample per collecting interval and transect. Electrical conductivity and pH values were measured immediately in unfiltered aliquots in the laboratory at the ECSF.

Weekly time series of precipitation data from the San Francisco area at 2000 m a.s.l. at the measuring station FN2 located at the intersection of Camino Canal and Camino Zig-Zag. Precipitation was measured with 5 Hellmann-type pluviometers. The resulting weekly replicates of precipitation were volume-weighted and bulked to one sample per collecting interval. Electrical conductivity and pH values were measured immediately in unfiltered aliquots in the laboratory at the ECSF.

Aggregated values from 1998 are incomplete (March to December).

The table is a  list of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi with their host plants. The sequences are deposited in the NCBI GenBank.

Measurements of gas flux (CO2, CH4, N2O) in canopy soils of NUMEX plots on four dates (Sept/Nov 2011 and Jan/April 2012). Measurements were taken in 3 of the 4 NUMEX blocks at each elevation; treatments measured included C, N, NP and P.

Gas fluxes were measured by incubating intact soil cores.
Gas samples were analyzed on a gas chromatograph with a FID and ECD.
Note that the units for CO2 are mg CO2-C m-2 h-1 (not g CO2-C).

Rainfall data from the ECSF area in hourly resolution at the FN2 site located at the intersection of Camino Canal and Camino Zig-Zag. Rainfall was measured with an automatic rain gauge (Campbell ARG100, Palo Alto, USA) coupled with a HOBO H07-002-04 datalogger (Onset, Bourne, USA). Event-based recordings were aggregated to hourly data. Rain events occuring during one hour interval were aggregated to the next full hour. Data values are complete unless otherwise indicated by the data gaps below:

Data gaps during the observation period are indicated by values = NULL. Please take these data gaps into account when aggregating precipitation values.

Soil texture were sampled in the young landslide in front of the station, on the other side of the San Francisco river. Soil samples were analysed in the laboratory of the University of Bayreuth.
