Welcome to the project website CorsicArchive

The project CorsicArchive (Altitudinal Gradients and Forest Response: Climate, Hydrology and Isotope Variability of a Mediterranean Ecosystem) was established by a consortium of experts in different research fields and is funded by the German Science Foundation DFG (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft). It foresees to integrate dendroecological, climatological, and hydrological studies on the island of Corsica.

Superordinate aims of the project are:

• Better understand the processes responsible for spatial and temporal oxygen isotope variability in tree rings and in the hydrological cycle on Corsica
• Better understand and quantify palaeoclimate in the western Mediterranean
• Modell regional circulation patterns to explain isotope variability in proxy archives
• Provide detailed data on wood formation, cambial phenology and seasonality of carbon sequestration in different elevation zones
