Weekly time series of measured concentrations of Al, Mn, Zn, Cl, PO4-P, Total P, NH4-N, NO3-N, Total N, S, K, Na, Mg, Ca and Total organic C in litter leachate in the ECSF area in the microcatchment Q2 (transects Q2.1, Q2.2 and Q2.3). The weekly time series extends between March 1998 and May 2013. Litter leachate was sampled on the three transects with zero-tension lysimeters below the organic layer. On each transect 3 replicates at upper, middle and lower slope positions were collected, volume-weighted and bulked to one sample per plot and collecting interval. Samples were immediately filtered (4-7 µm) in the laboratory of the ECSF and stored at -20 °C until transport in frozen state to Germany or to Switzerland for concentration measurements.

Soil solution was sampled on the 3 transects of Q2 with ceramic suction cups having a pore size of 1 µm installed at 30 cm depth in the mineral soil. On each transect 3 replicates were collected and bulked to one sample per plot and collection interval. Electrical conductivity and pH values were measured immediately in unfiltered aliquots in the laboratory of the ECSF.

Pressure heads [synon.: matrix potentials, or pore water pressions] measured daily at two depth within the mineral soil on the western ridge of microcatchment Q2 at 2000 m ASL. Pressure head values were measured by fixed tensiometers. Daily values were taken manually.

Stem flow was sampled weekly in Q2.1 with polyurethane collars on 5 representative tree species: Piptocoma discolor (Kunth) Pruski, Heliocarpus americanus L., Sapium glandulosum (L.) Morong, Cyathea caracasana (Klotzsch) Domin, Cecropia angustifolia Trécul. The five stem flow samples were collected, volume-weighted and bulked to one sample per per collecting interval. Samples were immediately filtered (4-7 µm) in the laboratory of the ECSF and stored at -20 °C until transport in frozen state to Germany or to Switzerland for concentration measurements.
