This dataset contains two layers. "FLS_sum" is the amount of detected FLS events in a month. "FLS_ref" is the amount of possible FLS detection events in a month. FLS frequency is calculated by the formula FLS_sum/FLS_ref.

This dataset contains masks of Fog and Low Stratus (FLS) for Europe.
Time period covered: 2006-01-01 to 2015-12-31
The masks are based on Meteosat Second Generation data that were processed based on the algorithm described in Egli, S., Thies, B., Drönner, J., Cermak, J., & Bendix, J. (2017).
